September 22, 2011ANTHON, Iowa -- Peggy Aileen Jones, 84, Anthon, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, at a Sioux City hospital.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, 2011 at Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, with the Rev. Don Collison officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. Condolences may be left online for the family at www.rushfamilycareservice.com.
Peggy Aileen was born Sept. 22, 1926, at Canyon City, Ore., the daughter of James and Alice (Lyon) Welsh. She was raised in Oregon and graduated from Dayville High School at Dayville, Ore., in 1945. During the Korean War, she worked for a construction company, flagging traffic, on the Alcan Highway while the first blacktop was laid on the Alaskan end.
Peggy and Donald Jones were united in marriage in 1979 at Sioux City. The couple managed apartment complexes in Oregon for 11 years. She also worked in home health care in Oregon, Arizona and Iowa.
She enjoyed gardening, homemaking and hunting.
Survivors include her husband, Donald of Anthon; three nieces, Delores Martin of Oregon, Rita Barnes of Arkansas and Darlene Cardoza of Oregon; and two nephews, Larry Bream and Ronald Krieger, both of Oregon.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde, Gerald and John; two sisters, Anna Lee Cresap and Adelia May Follmer; a sister-in-law, Helen Welsh and a stepson, Donald Jones Jr.
