Alice Harriet May Letterly

Alice Harriet May Letterly, age 80, of rural Castana, Iowa, died on Sunday, January 31, 1988, at the Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa. Iowa, after a long illness. Death came at the age of 80 years. 8 months, and 14 days.

She was bom on May 17. 1907, at rural Whiting, Iowa, the daughter of Otto and Hedvig (Maurits) Anderson. On March 23, 1935, she married Raymond H. "Dude" Letterly in Sioux City. Iowa. The couple made their home, near Castana, Iowa. She
was a life-long Monona County resident. She was a member of the Whiting Church of Christ, where she had been a Sunday School teacher. She will be remembered by many for her craftsmanship in caning and restoring antiques.

She is survived by her husband. Raymond: one brother, Harold R. Anderson of Onawa, Iowa; nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Edgar Anderson, and one sister, Anna Dickson.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 1988. at the First Christian Church in Onawa, Iowa, with Jerry Quandt and Everett Epperson officiating. The organist was Mrs. Jack Jordan and the soloist, Ron Williams, sang. "Peace In The Valley" and 'Take My Hand Precious Lord".

Casketbearers were Neil Leapley. Paul Losh. Darl Miller, Bill McCall. Gary Thies, and Robert Erlckson.

Interment was in the Kennebec Cemetery in Castana. Iowa, with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa. Iowa.
