UTE, Iowa -- Erma D. Sander, 92, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, formerly of Ute, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute, with the Rev. Gordon Buchholz officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Armstrong Funeral Home in Ute.

Erma Dora Jahn Sander was born Jan. 11, 1919, in Crawford County, Iowa, to Carl and Dora (Timm) Jahn. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute, having been baptized on Feb. 4, 1919, and confirmed on March 20, 1932. She attended St. Paul's Parochial School.

On Jan. 26, 1938, she married Harold Eggen at the Lutheran parsonage in Ute. They made their home in Schleswig, Iowa, and then moved to a farm west of Ute for two years. In 1941, they moved to a farm north of Ute, where they lived until retiring in 1973, when they moved into Ute. They had two children, Jolene and Norman. Harold died in July 1986.

She married Louis Sander on Feb. 6, 1988. Louis passed away in 2003. Erma moved to Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge in 2004, where she resided until her death.

Erma was a homemaker, taught Sunday school, and belonged to St. Paul's Ladies Aid. She was an active member of the Ute Senior Center as well. She loved flowers and gardening.

She is survived by her daughter, Jolene Douglas of Fort Dodge; her son, Norman (Maggie) Eggen of Lafayette, Calif.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Edna Jahn of Mapleton, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Jahn, who died just one day after Erma's passing.

Along with her husbands, Erma was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Herbert, Walter, and Ervin; two sisters, Lydia and Arlene; and a son-in-law, Mick.
