January 25, 2012ONAWA, Iowa -- David Ray Lawrence, 54, of Onawa passed away Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa. Burial will be in Le Mars (Iowa) Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
David Ray Lawrence was born June 23, 1957, in Mt. Ayr, Iowa, the son of Donald and Doris (Smith) Lawrence. David attended school at West Monona Community School until the age of 16. David joined the U.S. Army on July 31, 1974, at the age of 17, and served until Feb. 23, 1976. After serving his country, David returned home where he became a lifelong over-the-road semi driver.
He was loved and will be missed by his family.
Survivors include two daughters, Bobbie Jean Miller of Danbury, Iowa, and Eileen Henry of Council Bluffs, Iowa; four grandchildren, Savannah and Sabrina Miller, and Aiyana and Alexander Davis; four brothers, Dennis (Kathy) of Onawa, Danny (Julie) of Mapleton, Iowa, Duane of Sioux City, and Don (Rhonda) of Mapleton; three sisters, Sue (Ed) Richardson of Le Mars, Donna (Mike) Golden of Castana, Iowa, and Sally Lawrence of Le Mars; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a nephew, Ryan Lawrence.
