Jeanette Mary Hupke, daughter of Peter and Laura (Schrunk) Matt, was born March 18, 1896 at Gettenberg, Iowa, and died May l0, 1975 a t her home in Mapleton, Iowa. She had reached the age of 79 years, 1 month and 22 days.
At the age of nine, Mrs. Hupke came with her parents to the Danbury community where they farmed. Following her marriage t o Joe Hupke on May 2, 1917 a t Danbury, Iowa, they farmed i n t h e Danbury area and in 1942 moved t o a farm in the Mapleton community. In 1955 they retired and moved to the town of Mapleton. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mapleton and was a member of St. Mary's Guild.
She was preceded i n death by her parents, one sister and four brothers. Survivors include her husband, Joseph of Mapleton; three daughters, Mrs. Tom (Helen) Craig of Anthon, Mrs. Mike (Ruth) Zowistowski of Des Moines, Iowa, and Mrs. Lawrence (Fern) Westphal of Cherokee; one son, James of Des Moines; one brother, Earl Matt of Danbury; one sister, Mrs. Al (Olive) Boss of Carroll; 18 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter

Rosary was recited Monday evening, May 12 at 8:30 p.m... a t the Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton.Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 13, 1975 at 10:00 a. m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mapleton. Father Walter Bruch officiated and burial was i n St Mary's Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: William Craig, Patrick Craig, John Zowistowski, Stanley Zowistowski, Joe Zowistowski and Jeffrey Hupke, all grandsons.
