6 September 1956Former Ticonic Resident Dies at Home in Minnesota
Funeral services for Fredrick W. Harjes, 65, former resident of Ticonic, Hornick and Sloan communities before moving to Minn., died on Tuesday evening at the St. Joseph Hospital at Nisswa, Minnesota. The funeral services were held at the Nisswa Community Church with Rev. Wesley Johnson, officiating. Interment was made in Crew Wing Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Harjes, was born February 17, 1891, in Juninta, Nebraska. He lived on Route 5, Nisswa. He was married September 4, 1925 to the former Martha Morse, of the Turin community. They have lived at Nisswa for the past 15 years and he operated the Interlakes Dairy there for the past seven years. He was a member of the Nisswa American Legion and was a veteran of World War 1.
He is survived by his widow; four sons, Fredrick Bruce , Nisswa; Howard and Henry, Moorhead; Gerald Vernon, in the Air Force at Marietta, Ga. And David Paul, Nisswa; two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Louise) Sykora, Sterden and Miss Mary Harjes, Duluth, three sisters, Mrs. Ed Pitstick, Auroram, Illinois, Mrs. Bruce Pringay, Adel, Iowa, and Mrs. Loren Means of Castana, Iowa. Two brothers have preceded him on death during the past three months.
