William Earl Otto Goslar, the son of Herman and Lydia (Schmidt) Goslar was born Aug. 2, 1926, near Ute, Iowa. Earl was a life long Ute community farmer and was farming west of Ricketts.

He was united in marriage to Rosie Kroll on June 14, 1945, at Ute. Earl was a member of the St. Johns Lutheran Church here at Charter Oak, where he was baptized on Sept. 5, 1926, by Rev. Amstein and confirmed April 6, 1941, by Rev. Scharder. He was Secretary of the Ricketts Community Club at the time of his death and committeeman for the A.S.C. of Crawford County.

Earl died April 13, 1982, in a Sioux City hospital of a brief illness having attained the age of 55 years, 8 months and 11 days.

Survivors include his wife, Rosie; two daughters, Karen (Mrs. Raymond) Bathke of Dakota City, Neb., Bonnie (Mrs. Earl) Johnson of Ponca, Neb.; two sons, Lester of Mapleton and Melvin at home; 10 grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Lydia Goslar of Charter Oak.

He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Ruth.

Funeral services were held April 17, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Charter Oak. Officiating was Pastor Lenhardt Gebbardt. Darlene Clausen was organist and Henry Henningsen, soloist.

Pallbearers were Gehart Langholdt, Leonard Petersen, William Reimer, Elmer Schultz, Laverne Creese, Laverne Benningsdorf.

Interment was in St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery, Charter Oak.

Walter Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
