Obituary of Mrs. Estella Mae Barnes

Mrs. Estella Mae Barnes, a resident of Blencoe the past ten years died Thursday, October 3rd after many months illness. She had been a patient in the hospital for about three days. Mrs. Barnes had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. George Burger of Blencoe since coming to this community from Chicago.

The daughter of John and Sabina Van Nortwich, she was born June 24, 1875 in Ohio and had made her home in the Chicago area until coming to Blencoe. Most of her active years was spent in show business as a singer and actress in vaudeville.

She was united in marriage with William T. Barnes in 1907. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Barnes was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Rebekah Lodge of Sturgis, Mich.
Survivors besides her daughter, Mrs. George Burger of Blencoe, is one son, J.C. Stinchicomb of Sturgis, Michigan. Three grandchildren and seven great -grandchildren. One brother, K. E. VanNortwich of Grand Rapids, Mich., a number of other relatives and friends.
The body was sent from the Pearson Funeral Home on Saturday to Sturgis, Michigan, for funeral services there on Tuesday. Interment was in the Oak Lawn cemetery.
