Vera B Burger, 98, formerly of Blencoe, Iowa died July 11, 1992 at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa following a long illness. She had resided at Elmwood since 1971.
She was born July 18, 1893 at Milbank, MI to Seneca Cicero Bruce Jay and Stella Mae (Van Nortwick) Jay. As a young woman she married Joseph Groncheski Kildore. Following his death, she married George Burger at Blencoe, Iowa on January 25, 1934. Mr. Burger died May 31, 1973 at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa.She is survived by two daughters, Vera Mae Worrell of Grand Junction, CO and Mrs. Carl (Mary Lou) Christensen of Omaha, NE; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and one foster grandchild; and two sisters-in-law, Jennie McElwain of Blencoe and Mae Burger of Whiting.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, one son, Joseph and one brother Jack Stinchomb.Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 1992 at the United Church of Christ, Blencoe, Iowa with Rev. Earle R. Potts officiating. The organist, Mrs. Robert Collison, Jr. accompanied the soloist, Mrs. Fred Gibson, in the selection “Amazing Grace.”
Casket Bearers were Carl Christensen, Tony Christensen, Nick Christensen, Nathan Christensen, Carl Welchert and James Wachter.
Interment was in Graceland Cemetery at Blencoe with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
