THELMA B. COOPER
LE MARS, Iowa—Thelma B. Cooper, 78, of LeMars, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1992, at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center, LeMars.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist church, LeMars with the Rev. Lynn Potter and the Rev. David Wagner officiating. Burial will be in the Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 7-8 p.m. at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home, LeMars.
Mrs. Cooper was born April 17, 1914, in Soldier, Iowa, the daughter of Evar and Anna (Torgerson) Benson. She married Elzie Cooper Feb. 11, 1933, in Elk Point, S.D. The couple farmed near Castana and Charter Oak. Mr. Cooper died in 1976 and she had lived in LeMars since 1978.
Mrs. Cooper was a member of the First United Methodist church in LeMars and a charter member of Neighbor Pals Club at Castana, Iowa.
Survivors include three sons and their wives: Richard Cooper and Jeanette, of Tulsa, Okla.; Robert Cooper and Joyce of Creston; and Ronald Cooper and Judith of Englewood, Colo.; two daughters and their husbands, Joanne and Robert Meeves of Dunlap and Carolyn and James Landis, of LeMars; 23 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; four brothers and their wives, Lloyd Benson and Edna, of South Sioux City; Iva Benson and Lois of Pipestone, Minn.; Avis Benson and Elizabeth of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Ivan Benson and Pauline of Anchor Point, Alaska; and three sisters, Ella Boyer of Colorado Springs, Colo,; Irene Fischer and her husband, Reuben, of Green Bay, Wis.; and Anne Marie Hill, of Omaha.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Roy and Clark; three sisters, Esther, Bertha and Alice; and three grandchildren.
