ONAWA, Iowa -- Ardith Ann (Van Ness) Davis, 72, West Des Moines, formerly of Onawa, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Moorhead Christian Church in Moorhead, Iowa, with the Rev. Michael Brown officiating. Burial will be in Spring Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa. Ardith Ann was born Nov. 22, 1938, on a farm in Harrison County, Iowa, the daughter of Amos Floyd and Margaret (Owens) Van Ness. At the age of 3, Ardith and her family moved to rural Moorhead, Iowa, where she resided for more than 50 years. She was employed at Cross Roads in Onawa.

Ardith and Robert Austin Davis were united in marriage on Jan. 23, 1983, in Onawa. The couple made their home in rural Moorhead before moving to Onawa in 1994. Robert passed away on Jan. 5, 2002.

She was a member of the United Pentecostal Church of Onawa. She enjoyed reading, caring for her flowers and ceramics. Ardith's greatest enjoyment was being able to drive her own car.

Survivors include a sister, Norma Van Ness of West Des Moines; a sister-in-law, Virginia Van Ness of Moorhead; and 17 nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Clayton and Darrell Van Ness; six sisters, Donna Faye Van Ness, Fayette Wendt, Doris Wagner, Louise Stolley and Lavon and Darlene, who both died in infancy.
