MAPLETON, Iowa -- Anna E. Roberg, 71, of Mapleton, formerly of the Castana, Iowa, area, died May 1, 2011, at her home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Turin United Methodist Church in Turin, Iowa, with the Rev. Angela Gafford Asmus officiating. Burial will be in Belvidere Cemetery, Turin. Visitation with the family will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 6 p.m., at Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa, Iowa.

Anna Elizabeth Roberg, daughter of Glen W. and Fanny H. (Hansen) Andersen, was born Sept. 18, 1939, in Cass County, Iowa. She attended school in Cass County and graduated from Atlantic High School in 1957. After high school, Anna attended Jennie Edmundson School of Nursing in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and UNO in Omaha, where she received her registered nurse degree.

On Feb. 6, 1966, Anna was united in marriage to William D. Roberg in Omaha. They made their home in Omaha, Onawa, Turin and the Castana area for 23 years. For the past 19 years, Anna and Bill have lived in Mapleton. Anna worked as a registered nurse for 32 years, until retiring in 1992.

Anna was an active member of Turin United Methodist Church, where she served as the church organist for a number of years and was a lay speaker. In addition, Anna was a member of the Onawa UMW, ABU Bekr Shrine Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary 502, Jennie Edmundson Alumni and the UNO Alumni. Anna enjoyed knitting, genealogy and attending church functions.

Anna is survived by her husband, William of Mapleton; two sisters, Dorothy Cade and husband, John Richard of Simi, Calif., and Betty Elwell and husband, Leland Read of Ardmore, Okla.; one sister-in-law, Marian Fisher and friend, Gary Pacey of Council Bluffs, Iowa; four nieces; five nephews; 11 grandnieces; nine grandnephews; three great-grandnieces; 14 great-grandnephews; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Ruth West.
