MAPLETON, Iowa -- Ileen Koch, 89, of Mapleton passed away Monday, Jan. 24, 2011.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton. The Rev. Dr. Klaus Raab is the officiant. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Tuesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., followed by a service conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Little Sioux Valley Post 9124 of Oto, Iowa, at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Ileen Peters was born to Egbert Menno and Gertie (Els) Peters on March 28, 1921, in Palmer, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

On June 19, 1944, she and Everett Koch exchanged marriage vows at St. John Lutheran Church in Palmer (Lizard Township), Iowa. To this union, five children were born.

Ileen was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Loren Hollister Post 496 of Mapleton and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Little Sioux Valley 9124. Ileen loved working with fabric, enjoying not only general sewing, but especially quilting and drapery. She belonged to the Sunshine Quilting Club. She also enjoyed playing cards at the senior center.

Survivors left to lovingly remember Ileen include her husband, Everett; four children and their spouses, Marvin (Karen) Koch of Ute, Iowa, Duane (Kathy) Koch of Nora Springs, Iowa, Joann (Merlin) Feddersen of Battle Creek, Iowa, and Sheryl (John) Block of Olathe, Kan.; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Koch of Alexandria, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ervin Peters of Pocahontas, Iowa; a half sister, Marcia Peterson of La Mesa, Calif.; a stepbrother, Leonard Kramer of Le Mars, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Arlo Koch of Beatrice, Neb.; a sister-in-law, Betty Kramer; and many nieces and nephews and good friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother; a son, Larry; and brothers, Herbert and Raymond.
