ONAWA, Iowa -- Laurent Marley, 63, Onawa, passed away Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Catholic Church in Onawa, with the Rev. Patrick O'Kane celebrant. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Blencoe, Iowa. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a Scripture prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Laurent was born May 31, 1947, in Sioux City, the son of Leo W. and Rosemarie (Hubert) Marley. He grew up and remained with his parents at the family farm near Blencoe. He was baptized at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Blencoe and was a member of the parish until they joined St. John's Catholic Church in Onawa.

Laurent was God's angel who was loved by his entire family of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and neighbors and he returned that love to each of them. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his mother, Rosemarie Marley of Onawa; his aunts and uncles, Joan Burns of Sioux Falls, S.D., John (Maurine) Hubert of Blencoe, Suzanne (Edwin) Ellensohn of Le Mars, Iowa, and Dorothy Daly of Omaha; cousins; friends; neighbors and the dedicated, loving staff at both Pleasant View Care Center and Elmwood Care Centre at Onawa who knew him as "Little Red".

He was preceded in death by his father, Leo W.; and grandparents, Laurent and Prudence Hubert and Michael and Mary Marley.
