17 June 2010MAPLETON, Iowa -- Grace Jean Bennett of Arlington, Texas, formerly of Mapleton, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2010, in Arlington.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Sagamore Baptist Church in Arlington. Arrangements are under the direction of Moore Funeral Home in Arlington.
Grace was born Jan. 26, 1923, in Iowa City, Iowa. She graduated from Iowa City High School in 1941, and attended the University of Iowa. She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1946. She taught school for 25 years.
She married Arthur Bennett on Jan. 27, 1951.
She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Mapleton. She was active in the Library board, was on the trustee board at the church and was the pie chairman of the United Methodist Women. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Christine and Michael Cook of Arlington, Texas; two sons and their wives, Brian an Theresa Bennett of San Diego, Calif., and Ken and Marcy Bennett of Shellsburg, Iowa, and Tim and Ellen Bennett of Omaha; and three grandchildren, Allyson, Noah and Gillian.
