ONAWA, Iowa -- Curt Madsen, 82, of Onawa, formerly of Moorhead, Iowa, passed away Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, with Elder Jocquelyn Girdner officiating. Burial will be in Ingeman Cemetery at Moorhead. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa.

Curt Madsen was born Aug. 14, 1928,at Sioux City, the son of Magnus and Genevieve (Roundsberg) Madsen. He grew up near and attended school at Turin, Iowa. Curt was a lifelong farmer in the Moorhead and Mondamin, Iowa areas.

He enjoyed reading, westerns and especially loved playing cards with his family. Curt always had a big garden and shared his produce with his family and friends. He was a loving and caring person, who always thought of others.

Survivors include his children, DeeAnn Samuelson of Manly, Iowa, Brenda Morlan of Onawa, Craig (Jody) Madsen of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Lori (Ron) Carter of Onawa, and Mark (Jill) Madsen of Logan, Iowa; honorary sons, Mark MayBee and Kent Bolte; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Jane Heck of Onawa, Virginia Vanness of Moorhead, and Jo Ann Thoreson of Sioux City; and two brothers, Chuck Madsen of Crescent, Iowa, and Burdette Madsen of Onawa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Debbie Madsen; infant sister, Mary Ann Madsen; and brothers, Frank and Page Madsen.
