John Abraham, age 94, of Omaha, Nebraska and formerly of Mapleton, passed away Monday, January 29, 1990 at an Omaha hospital.

Graveside service will be Thursday, February 1 at 11:30 a.m. at the Independent Farane Cemetery in Sioux City.

Mr. Abraham owned the Golden Rule Grocery Store and the Midwest Wholesale of Mapleton for many years. He was also a business in Danbury before moving to Mapleton.

Mr. Abraham was a life member of B’ni B’reath. He was also a 50 year member of the Quarry Masonic Lodge #404; a member of Beth El Synagogue of Omaha and Shaare Zion at Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie, who died January 28, 1981.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Sidney and Marilyn of Omaha, Nebraska; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ray and Sam Epstein of Sioux City and Hommey and Robert Kanter of Duluth, Minnesota; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Nelson-Burger Funeral Home, Morningside of Sioux City is in charge of arrangements.
