Onawa, Iowa—Robert L. “Bob” Albright, 68, of Onawa died Tuesday, June 20, 2006, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, with the Rev. Dennis Olsen officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the U.S. Navy and the Monona County Veterans of Foreign War Post 2694. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Bob was born July 24, 1937, the son of Isaac Eugene and Nava (Stanfel) Albright,. He was raised in the Exline, Iowa and Cincinnati, Iowa area. He graduated from Cincinnati High School in 1955.

He married Sandra Kron on June 16, 1962, at First Christian Church in Onawa. He served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years and during his career he went to Vietnam twice, retiring in 1975. After retiring, he went on to receive an Associates Degree from Sioux Empire College and completed an electrician course at Western Iowa Tech Community College. He served on the Onawa City council for more than 10 years. He enjoyed being a part of the Onawa Community. He worked as a maintenance man at the Monona County Courthouse for several years until retiring due to health issues.

He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association and the Monona County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2694.

Survivors include his wife, Sandy of Onawa; two children and their spouses, Kelly and Michael Lucht of Onawa and Kimberly and John Thies of Eden Prairie, Minn.; two grandchildren, Jake and Katherine Thies of Eden Prairie, Minn.; his stepmother, Elizabeth Albright of Exline, Iowa; his mother-in-law, Alice Kron of Whiting, Iowa; three sisters, Beverly Shultz of Tulsa, Okla., Ellen (Don) Cornel of Bullhead City, Ariz., and Cheryl Lord of Seymour, Iowa; a brother-in-law, George Nichols of Marshalltown, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Patty Albright of Centerville, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Jacquelin Nichols; a brother, Thomas Albright; and a grandson, Jared Michael Lucht.
