Mapleton, Iowa—Elizabeth A. Babl, 100, of Mapleton, died Friday, May 31, 1991, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mapleton, with the Rev. John Brennan officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a rosary recited by the St. Mary’s Guild at 3 p.m. and a vigil wake service at 7:30 p.m., at Walter-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mrs. Babl was born June 30, 1890, near Tyndall, S.D., the daughter of Michael and Frances Barth. After graduating from Tyndall High School, she attended the University of South Dakota. On June 30, 1922, she married William Babl in Tyndall. The couple made their home in Mapleton. She was a bookkeeper at Kraft Clothing, which they owned and operated. She entered Maple Heights Nursing Home in 1978. Mr. Babl died April 13, 1982.

Mrs. Babl was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and St. Mary’s Guild.

Survivors include a stepson and his wife, Walter W. Babl and Carolyn of Mapleton; four grandchildren, William Babl and his wife Margaret, of Dallas, Texas, John Babl of Mapleton, Beverly and her husband, Richard Cornelius of Palmyra, Pa. and Karen and her husband, Thomas Mowry of Springdale, Ark.; five great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Gladys Brown and Irma Harachavec, both of Rapid City, S.D.

She was preceded in death by 12 brothers and one sister.
