Mapleton, Iowa—William Babbe, 90, of Mapleton died Saturday at an Onawa hospital after a lingering illness.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton. The Rev. Mark Smeltzer will officiate. Burial will be in Heisler Cemetery in Mapleton.

Graveside military rites will be conducted by American Legion Loren Hollister Post 396.

Mr. Babbe was born Oct. 6, 1891, in Mapleton. He lived his entire life in the Mapleton area where he farmed. He was a World War I veteran, a member of the American Legion and a past member of the Mapleton Sky Hawks and the Flying Farmers Association.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
