Mate of Country Poor Farm Hangs Himself in his Room
Had Lived At Onawa
First Tried to Sever the Arteries in his Arm---Had Been in Poor Health-
Buried At Castana Tuesday

On Monday evening near six o’clock Carl Abrahamson, an inmate of the country poor farm, was found dead in his room when his supper was taken to him. Some time during the afternoon he had tried with his pocket knife to sever the arteries in his arm, but failing in this he tore the bed sheet into strips and made them into a cord with which to hung himself from a hook on his room door.

Abrahamson was about sixty three years old and had been in this country thirteen years. He has a brother residing west of Onawa and other relatives in the county. He had been married in the old country, but had no family here. He was of a morose disposition and had been in poor health for some time.

Coroner Battin and Sheriff Rawlings went to Castana Tuesday morning and summoned a Coroner’s jury composed of S.L. Willittis, C.D. Cutter and F.A. McGarr. The jury found that he came to his death by committing suicide by hanging. The remains were buried at Castana Tuesday.
