Arnold Everett Adams
25 March 1971- Onawa DemocratArnold Everett Adams, son of John M. and Bessie Henricksen Adams, was born March 21,1903 at Moorhead, Monona County, Iowa. He died February 28, 1971, at the Missouri Methodist Hospital, St. Joseph, Missouri. Had he lived until March 31st he would have been sixty-eight years old.
At the age of eighteen he was baptized into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and spent the next three years attending Graceland College.
On June 21, 1925 he was united in marriage with Mary Aurilee Jensen of Moorhead. To this union two children were born, Arladine and Everett. They resided on the Adams family farm where Arnold was born until 1944, when they moved to Bolckow, Missouri, where they purchased the farm and have made their home since that time.
After his baptism his church activities became a mojor objective in his life. He was ordained to the office of Priest, later to the office of Elder, and on March 6, 1949 to the office of High Priest. Since that time he has served as a member of the High Council of Far West Stake. At various times he has served as pastor at Guilford, Bedison, Maysville and Maryville. During his pastorate at Maysville he helped with the planning and construction of a new church building. At Maryville he was instrumental in reorganizing a congregation whose growth and development has always been a great comfort to him.
He never ceased to marvel at the beauty and wonder of nature around him. Early in life he developed a keen interest in the propagation of fish. This resulted in his retirement project of pond building and catfish raising.
His survivors include his wife, Aurilee, of the home; a daughter, Arladine Nelson and her husband, Norman, of Lamont, Iowa; a son Everett, and his wife, Carol, of Bolckow, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Robert, David and Nancy Nelson, Deanna Russel, Lowell and Teresa Middleton and a great granddaughter, Susan Nelson; his mother, in the nursing home in Ida Grove, Iowa; a sister Mrs. Helen Miller of Schleswig, Iowa, and her two children; a brother, Frank Adams of Turin, Iowa and his three children. His father preceded him in death in 1959.
Funeral services were conducted at the Guilford, Missouri R.L. D.S. Church March 2, 1971. Those attending from this area were: Frank Adams of Turin, Iowa, Mrs. Helen Miller of Schleswig, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Moore and Monte of Woodbine, Iowa, Mrs. Harold Mann of Harcourt, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Louie Baeth, Mr. and Mrs. Weston Taylor and Wesley Delance of Moorhead, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Andy Ballantyne of Soldier, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Mann of Ute, Iowa, Lloyd Don of Woodbine, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Hildreth of Pisgah, Iowa.
