Joe Adams, 87, Died, Former Resident of Community
Onawa Democrat

Joe Adams was born at Onawa, Iowa on October 7, 1874 and passed from this life in Sioux City on April 30, 1962. Death came at the age of 87 years, six months and 23 days.

He was united in marriage with Nellie Hunting on December 25, 1895 at Onawa. Mrs. Adams preceded him in death in August 1951.

For the past four and one-half years he had made his home in Sioux City. With the exception of a year and a half spent in Washington he was a life time resident of this community.

Early in life he accepted the Christ as his Savior and was united with the Latter Day Saints Church.

Survivors are his one daughter; Mrs. Isabel Adkins of Sioux City, six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren, along with a number of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one brother Guy Adams and one sister, Mrs. Oak Adam Baker.

The funeral service was held at the Pearson Funeral Chapel in Onawa on Thursday, May 3 at 10:30 a.m. Rev Everett Epperson conducted the service. Mrs. Orland Ferris sang “What A Friend We Have In Jesus” and “The Old Rugged Cross” accompanied at the oragan by Mrs. David Gray. The casket bearers were Vern McFee Willis Comfort, David Gray, Ronald Kraft, Dales Alexander and Wayne Loomis. Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery.
