29 April 2010OTO, Iowa -- Edith A. Gotto, 72, of Oto passed away Monday, April 26, 2010, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Whiting, Iowa after a long battle with cancer.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Evangelical Church in German City, 2843 Hancock Circle, Hornick, Iowa. The Rev. Paul Mahaffie will be officiating. Burial will be at a later date in St. Clair Cemetery, Ute, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 210 South Fifth Street, Mapleton, Iowa.
Edith Ann (Johnson) Gotto was born Aug. 25, 1937, in Bloomfield, Neb., the daughter of William and Martha (Pranschke) Johnson. She lived most of her life in the Oto area.
She was an active member of St. John's Evangelical Church near Hornick, Iowa.
Survivors include her son, Steve Gotto of Oto and his family; her daughter, Patty Gotto (Duane Banta) and her family of Mapleton, Iowa; her son, Marty of Oto; her son, Tracy and his family of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and Edith's sister, Helen Finzen of Denison, Iowa; along with cousins in Nebraska.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father.
Edith received excellent care from the Pleasant View Nursing Home and Hospice of Siouxland in her final days.
