TURIN, Iowa -- Roger Petersen, 46, of Turin passed away Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at Burgess Health Center.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Castana Community Church at Castana, Iowa, with Pastors Linda Boggs and Harvey Hanson officiating. Burial will be in Belvidere Cemetery at Turin. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Roger Eugene Petersen was born Sept. 16, 1963, at Onawa, Iowa, the son of Paul Jr. and Patsy (Anderson) Petersen. He was a lifelong resident of Monona County. He attended school at Sun Valley School at Turin and West Monona School in Onawa. He had been affiliated with Crossroads of Western Iowa at Onawa many years.

Roger was a member of Castana Community Church. He was an avid fan of Elvis Presley music, enjoyed watching "The Price is Right" and riding his bike.

Survivors include his parents, Patsy and Paul Jr. Petersen of Turin; two sisters and their husbands, Susan and Bob Steiner of Turin, and Sandra and Matt Pflug of Ames, Iowa; five nieces and nephews, Eric (Dana) Steiner, Betsy Steiner (Derek Mefferd) and Nick, Vanessa and Brandon Pflug; three great nephews, Dalton Mefferd, Tyler Ehrig and Kole Steiner; a host of aunts, uncles and cousins; and his many Crossroads' friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred and Eva Anderson and Paul and Oma Petersen; and a great niece, Kelsey Pflug.
