LE MARS Iowa -- Mary Louise Rath, 94, of Le Mars passed away Monday, July 31, 2006, at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.

Services will be 6 p.m. today at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars, with the Rev. Jason Larson of Le Mars United Methodist Church officiating. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Graceland Cemetery, Blencoe, Iowa. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Mary Louise Briley was born May 11, 1912, near Thurman, Iowa, to John and Edith (Mobley) Briley. She was raised in the Methodist faith. She received her education in Whiting, Iowa.

She was united in marriage to Edgar Anderson. To this union a son, Edwin, was born. She later married Leo Rath. She lived and worked for Alber's Food Center in Hinton, Iowa, for 25 years. She later moved to Le Mars and lived at Regency Villa for many years. In July 2002, she became a resident of Plymouth Manor Care Center. While living at Plymouth Manor, she enjoyed the activities and visiting with staff members.

She enjoyed sports, especially baseball and basketball. She also enjoyed playing solitaire. She loved to bake and share her baked goods with friends. She was a long time member of the Eagle's Auxiliary in South Sioux City.

Survivors include a sister, Nellie May Fister of Onawa, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Edwin; four brothers; and three sisters.
