ONAWA, Iowa -- Frances Irene Clay, 83, of Onawa passed away Friday, Aug. 29, 2003, at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. today at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, with the Rev. Connie McWilliams officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Blencoe, Iowa.

Frances was born Aug. 12, 1920, in Blencoe, the daughter of Wilber and Bertha (Marley) Hime. She was raised in Blencoe.

She married Aubrey H. "Pete" Clay on Feb. 5, 1938, in Booneville, Mo. The couple made their home in Missouri until retiring to Onawa. Mr. Clay passed away April 12, 2002.

She was a member of Blencoe United Church of Christ. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, care for flowers and especially her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Judith Douglas of Peru, Neb., and Barbara and her husband, Ron Paul of Missouri Valley, Iowa; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Mary Brokens, Bonnie and her husband, Robert Stevenson, and Evelyn and Beverly Purchase, all of Onawa.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, three sisters and a son-in-law, Richard Douglas.
