Matthew P. Flammang, 77, 3121 Eighth St., died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 1991, at a Sioux City hospital after being stricken at his home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. John Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. today with the family present from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel. A scriptural wake service will be at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Flammang was born November 6, 1913 in Monona County, Iowa, the son of Nickolas and Anna (Keitges) Flammang. He married Cecelia M. Uhl November 19, 1935, in Mapleton, Iowa. The couple farmed in the Mapleton, Le Mars, Salix and Lawton area until 1976 when they retired and moved to Sioux City.

Mr. Flammang was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Edwin Flammang of Bronson, Iowa, and Roger Flammang of Kingsley, Iowa; three daughters, Mrs. Myron (Sandra) Bokemper and Mrs. Leonard (Janet) Schoenherr, both of Sioux City and Mrs. Keith (Sharon) Langmeyer of Le Mars, Iowa; two brothers, Edgar Flammang of Sioux City and Jerome Flammang of Arvada, Colo; four sisters, Mrs. Don (Rita) Ferdig of Longmont, Colo., Mrs. Mary Gormally of Fort Collins, Colo., Mrs. Bill (Theresa) Sachau of Allen, Nebr., and Mrs. Ernest (Monica) Smith of Sioux City; 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Pallbearers will be Danny, Gary and Jason Flammang, Randy Bokemper, Leonard and David Schoenherr and Jeff Lackore.
