22 January 1998Leona May Ullrich, 82, of Salix, Iowa, died Monday, January 12, 1998, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Whiting, Iowa.
Mrs. Ullrich was born May 27, 1915, at Mapleton, Iowa, the daughter of Charles M. and Edith A (Scholes) Jackson. She graduated from Mapleton High School in Mapleton. On January 17, 1947, she married Raymond M. Ullrich at Mapleton. The couple had farmed near Salix since 1950. She worked as a housekeeper for John Abraham and later was a self-employed seamstress in Oto and Salix, retiring in 1975. Mr. Ullrich died July 23, 1979, in Omaha, Nebraska.
She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Salix, the Ladies Society and the Rosary Society.
Survivors include three brothers, Lyle Jackson of Atlantic, Iowa, Russell Jackson of Sioux City, and Robert and his wife, Heide Jackson of Bellevue, Nebraska; two sisters, Velma Kunkel of Salix, Iowa and Marjorie and her husband, Howard Kovarna of Merrill, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, two brothers, Gilbert Wayne Jackson and Lloyd Allen Jackson; and one sister, Dorothy Marine Wallace.
The funeral Mass was held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 15, 1998 at St Joseph Catholic Church in Salix with Mass Celebrant Father Bruce Lawler. Chrissy Martinez was the organist, the Cantor was Dorothy Hubert and the Lectors were Jane Uhl and Pauline Scott.
Interment was in St Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Salix with arrangements by the Wood Funeral Home, Sloan, Iowa.
