11 April 1978Mapleton, Iowa—Joseph C Hupke, 85, of Mapleton, died Sunday at a Sioux City nursing home.
Services will be at 10:30 Wednesday at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Mapleton, with the Rev. Walter Bruch officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today at the Walter Funeral Home, Mapleton.
Mr. Hupke was born March 30, 1893, in Sac County. He married Jeanette Matt- May 2, 1917, in Danbury. He farmed in the Danbury area and in 1942 they moved to a farm near Mapleton. They retired in 1955 to Mapleton. Mrs. Hupke died in 1975.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Church.
Survivors include a son, James of Des Moines; three daughters, Mrs. Tom (Helen) Craig of Anthon, Mrs. Mike (Ruth) Zawistowski of Des Moines and Mrs. Lawrence (Fern) Westphal of Cherokee; 18 grandchildren; two great-granddaughters, and three sisters, Mrs. John (Lena) Klein, Mrs. Jerome (Loretta) Uhl and Mrs. Eldon (Bertha) Schweizer, all of Ontario, California.
