Dorothy A Altmanshofer, 88, of Elk Point, SD, formerly of Sioux City died Wednesday, Sept 29, 1993 at Prairie Estates Care Center in Elk Point following a long illness.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Morningside Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Arthur K. Beumler officiating. Burial will be in Sloan Cemetery in Sloan, Iowa. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. with the family present from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Christy Morningside Funeral Home.

Mrs. Altmanshofer was born March 19, 1905 in Whiting, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Dora (Benner) Primmer. She married Ernest McDonald March 24, 1924. He died Jan. 6, 1962. She then married Leo Altmanshofer July 9, 1964. She was born and raised around Whiting then moved to Sloan where she lived for several years. She later moved to Sioux City, where she lived for many years until she had to move to the nursing home about 2 ½ years ago. She was a bookkeeper for Sloan Telephone Co. Then was a sales clerk for Montgomery Wards and Younkers Bros. in Sioux City, retiring in 1964.
Mrs. Altmanshofer was a member of Morningside Presbyterian Church and the Siouxland Senior Center.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Delorice Hagerman of Rothschild, Wis.; two stepdaughters and their husbands, Dorothy and Douglas Levering of Jefferson, SD and Darlene and LeRoy Kamm of Sioux City; a sister, Edith Beckwith of Whiting, Iowa; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and 13 step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene; a son, Richard D; and two sisters, Opal Davis and Della Dahl.

Pallbearers will be Morris Dahl, Bill Hagerman, Dick Whitney, Leonard Brown, Robert Noble and Patrick Hendricks.
