Hold Services For Ray Carroll September 6th

Leonard Ray Carroll, 79, 512 Pearl Street, Onawa, Iowa, died at his home on Saturday, September 2, 1972, following an apparent heart attack.

He was born in Monona County on June 10, 1893, the son of George and Mary Carroll and had lived in Monona County his entire life time.

On March 4, 1915 he was united in marriage to Sena Larson and to this union one son and one daughter were born.

He farmed for a number of years for the past 20 years had operated the Home Café in Mapleton, retiring in the fall of 1971 and moving to Onawa.

Survivors include his wife, Sena of Reno, Nevada; one son, Doyle of Novato, California; one daughter, Mrs. Iona Wright of Reno, Nevada; one grandson, Raymond Wright of Reno; four brothers, William of Blencoe, Iowa, Floyd of Los Angeles, California, George of Onawa and Allen of Grand Junction, Colorado; four sisters, Mrs. Alf (Myrtle) Rasmussen, Ida Grove, Iowa, Mrs. Mildred Funkhouser, Whiting, Iowa, Mrs. Mabel Peterson, Battle Creek, Iowa and Mrs. Mary McClatchey, Mapleton, Iowa; a number of other relatives and many friends.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 6, 1972 at the Mapleton Church of Christ, Mapleton, Iowa with the Rev. John Olson and the Rev. E.E. Epperson officiating. Jolene Hanson sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Nearer My God To Thee,” accompanied by Lois Jensen.

Pallbearers were Beers Woodward, Earl Carroll, Jim Wodke, Robert James, Francis Heisler and Carlyle Peterson. Interment was in Center Cemetery at Castana, Iowa.
