Margaret Grace “Bodie” Olsen, 89, of Onawa, Iowa died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa.

Bodie was born February 18, 1915, in Pottawatamie County near Loveland, Iowa, to Leo and Laura (Eckrick) Olsen. Her family moved to Holly Springs, Iowa, where she attended school. She lived with her sister and brother-in-law for several years and helped raise their three children, Jeanene, Ruth and Frank. Approximately 60 years ago she became a housekeeper for Raymond and Leah Adkins and helped care for their daughter, Terry. After their deaths, she continued to look after Terry and then lived with Terry and her husband, Al, for 27 years helping with their children. Several years ago she moved to Elmwood Care Center in Onawa.

She is survived by 3 brothers, Miles Olsen and his wife, Elaine of Sioux City, Bernard Olsen and his wife, Norma of Correctionville, Iowa, and Ed Olsen of Benton, Illinois; nieces and nephews and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; a sister, Frances Bigelow and 2 brothers, Leo and James Olsen.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa, with Pastor John Noer. Pearson Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements. There will be no visitation.
