Margie M. Lee, 87, of Sloan, Iowa died Wednesday, January 26, 2000 at Elmwood Care Center, in Onawa, Iowa.

Margie was born May 14, 1912 in rural Sloan, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Eva (Miller) Larson. She attended country school through 8th grade and later received her GED.

She was married to Merlin G. Lee May 14, 1932, at Elk Point, SD. The couple farmed in the Sloan area until retiring in 1977. He died September 5, 1990.

She was a member of Skien Lutheran Church and ELCW, where she was financial secretary for many years. She was a faithful worker and volunteer until her health failed. She loved her garden and flowers. Cooking and baking for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was her greatest enjoyment.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband Bonnie and Dick Stevenson of Onawa; a daughter-in-law, Caryl Lee of Salix; a granddaughter Diann Bohall of Salix; and four grandsons, Dan and Bob Lee of Sergeant Bluff, Brad Stevenson of Onawa, and Ben Stevenson of Iowa City; eleven great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Leon (Faye) Henkel of Whiting and Mrs. Will (Jean) Hathaway, Jr. of Turin; and one sister-in-law, Eunice Larson of Onawa and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Jim; her parents; two sisters, Marie Anderson and Ferne Sorenson; a brother, Bud Larson’ an infant sister Lucille; and an infant brother, Lewis.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 29, 2000 at Skien Lutheran Church in Albaton with Rev. Barb Spaulding, officiating. Special organ selections, “In The Garden” and “Amazing Grace” were provided by the organist Marlene Westergaard. Interment was in Fairview Township Cemetery, Albaton. Visitation was held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Skien Lutheran Church.

Casket Bearers were Dan, Aaron and Bob Lee, Brad and Ben Stevenson and Mike Bohall.

Honorary casket bearers were Adam, Ashton, Austin, Casey, and Becky Lee and Michala, Marcus and Marissa Bohall.

Arrangements were under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa.
