Mapleton, Iowa—Harold Oluf Jensen, 94, of Mapleton, died Sunday, January 23, 2000, at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mapleton, with the Rev. Edmund Tiedeman officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, with military rites conducted by American Legion Loren Hollister Post 496 of Mapleton. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a vigil wake service at 7 p.m. at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mr. Jensen was born November 9, 1905, in Exira, Iowa, the son of Oluf and Lena (Wolf) Jensen. He attended school in Exira and Audubon, Iowa.

He married Delphine Stodden on July 16, 1930, in Guthrie Center, Iowa. The couple then moved to Atlantic, Iowa, where he was employed with Lyon Inc.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Following his discharge, they moved to Mapleton, where he farmed. He retired in 1969. She died July 22, 1978.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and American Legion Loren Hollister Post 496. He was a co-founder of Maple Heights Nursing Home.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Harold Jr. and Carol of Mapleton, three grandchildren, Mark and Mike Jensen and Linda Fox and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister and four brothers.

Harold O. Jensen, 94, of Mapleton, died Sunday, January 23, 2000, at Mapleton, Iowa.

Services were held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 26, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mapleton, with Rev. Edmund Tiedeman officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, with military graveside honors by the American Legion Loren Hollister Post #496 of Mapleton. A vigil wake service was held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Harold Oluf Jensen was born November 9, 1905, in Exira, Iowa, the son of Oluf and Lena (Wolf) Jensen. He attended school in Exira and Audubon, Iowa.

On July 16, 1930, Harold was united in marriage to Delphine Stodden at Guthrie Center, Iowa. Soon after the marriage the couple moved to Atlantic, Iowa, where he worked until moving to Detroit, Michigan in 1933, There Harold was employed with Lyon Inc.

Harold served his country in World War II in the United States Army in 1943. After his honorable discharge, the couple moved to Mapleton, Iowa when he started farming. Due to ill health, he retired from farming in 1969. Delphine died July 22, 1978.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and American Legion Loren Hollister Post #496, both of Mapleton. . He was also a co-founder of Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Harold Jr. and Carol of Mapleton, three grandchildren, Mark and his wife, Deb, Mike Jensen and his wife, Staci and Linda Fox and four great-grandchildren Jayson and Megan Dirks and Shelby and Cole Jensen, along with other relatives, neighbors and friends.

Along with his wife, Harold was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and four brothers.

Pallbearers were Mark Jensen, Mike H\Jensen, Jay Dirks, Daryl Scheer, Joe Flanigan and Mike Flanigan.
