3 February 2000Mapleton, Iowa—Wilma Jean Hopkins, 66, of Mapleton died unexpectedly Tuesday, February 1, 2000, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton, with the Rev. Margo Fohs officiating. Burial will be in Heisler Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hopkins was born April 2, 1933, in Smithland, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Mary (Riley) Pauley.
She married Billie Hopkins on July 6, 1953, in Onawa, Iowa. The couple lived in Castana and Danbury, Iowa before moving to Mapleton in 1972. She was employed with Helen’s Restaurant in Onawa for a period of time.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Tommy of Mapleton and Billie Jr. and his wife, Brenda of Ottumwa, Iowa; three daughters and their husbands, Karen and Richard Belt of Onawa, Mary and Jeffrey Fitch of Michigan and Myra and Steve Hein of Moorhead, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, Adam, Paul, Kelly, John, Billie III, Bruce, Joshua, Julia, Rena and Kara; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Elaine and her husband, Harold “Fuzz” Hopkins of Albia, Iowa, Helen Ruth Hopkins and Delores Anderson, both of Mapleton and Mary and her husband, Bud Allen of Soldier, Iowa; a brother, Earl “Pete” Pauley of Mapleton and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Elsie (Pauley) Bridgeman and Betty Pauley; and two brothers, Franky John and Edward LeRoy.

Services were held 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton with Pastor Margo Fohs officiating. Burial was in Heisler Cemetery, Mapleton. Connie Bridgeman was the accompanist for the message in music.
Wilma Jean Hopkins was born April 2, 1933, at Smithland, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Mary (Riley) Pauley. On July 6, 1953, she was united in marriage to Billie Hopkins Sr. at Onawa, Iowa. To this union, five children were born. The family lived in Castana, Danbury and moved to Mapleton in 1972. Wilma worked at Helen’s Restaurant in Onawa, Iowa, for a period of time.
Those survivors left to cherish her memory include Billie, her husband of 46 years; two sons, Tommy of Mapleton, Iowa and Billie, Jr. and his wife, Brenda of Ottumwa, Iowa; three daughters and their husband, Karen and Richard Belt of Onawa, Iowa, Mary and Jeffrey Fitch of Michigan and Myra and Steve Hein of Moorhead, Iowa; ten grandchildren, Adam, Paul, Kelly, John, Billie III, Bruce, Joshua, Julia, Rena and Kara; two great-grandchildren, Dillon and Brenda Belt; four sisters, Elaine and her husband, Harold “Fuzz” Hopkins of Albia, Iowa, Helen Ruth Hopkins and Delores Anderson, both of Mapleton, Iowa and Mary and her husband, Bud Allen of Soldier, Iowa; one brother, Earl “Pete” Pauley of Mapleton, Iowa, along with numerous nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Elsie (Pauley) Bridgeman and Betty Pauley, two brothers, Franky John and Edward LeRoy.
Honorary pallbearers were Darrell Allen, Mike Riley, Ed Gray Jr., Mike Wessling, Jerry Hayden and Travis Gray.
Pallbearers were Paul Belt, John Belt, Billie Hopkins III, Bruce Hopkins II, Bobby Bridgeman and Dale Hopkins.
