Mrs. Hariett Townley, better known as Hattie, daughter of Amos M. and Delanna Anderson was born on April 18, 1878 at Moorhead, Iowa and was taken from this life to her heavenly home on June 26, 1957 after a lingering illness at the age of 79 years, 2 months and 8 days.

Hattie lived all her life in and near Moorhead.

On September 12, 1897 she was united in marriage to William Townley. Together, they participated freely in country, state and community affairs. Will passed away a number of years ago, leaving Hattie to continue her home alone without companionship, which she courageously did.

Early in life she was baptized into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In this faith she gave loyal and devoted service to the work of Christ and His Church. For many years she taught a children’s class in Sunday School and otherwise assisted as needed to make the church services successful.

She leaves to mourn her loss one brother, Frank Anderson, and one sister, Edna McElwain, both of Moorhead besides many other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Friday, June 28, at 2 p.m. at the RLDS church, Elder Chas Putnam of Co. Bluffs officiating, assisted by Elder Chester Davis. Comfort in song was given by Lyle Davis, accompanied by Mrs. Earl Jones. Casket bearers were Earl Bresaman, Darrell Wessell, Newell Simpson, Fern Gray, Ed Raymond and Donald Solberg.

Interment was in the Spring Valley cemetery under the direction of the Oldham Funeral Home of Soldier.
