Mrs. Mary G. Uhl, 89, of Sioux City, Iowa, formerly of Mapleton, Iowa died Thursday, March 27, 1986, in a Sioux City hospital.
Services were at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 31, 1986 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mapleton, Iowa with the Reverend Bruce LeFebvre officiating. Burial was in St Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation was from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, March 30, 1986, in the Walker Funeral Home at Mapleton, Iowa.
Mrs. Uhl, the former Mary G. Flammang, was born on December 23, 1896 to Pete and Anna Mary (Kenkel) Flammang in Earling and came to Mapleton community at the age of five. She married William A Uhl Jr., on November 11, 1919 in Mapleton, Iowa. The couple farmed in that community until retiring and moving into Mapleton, Iowa, in 1967. Mr. Uhl died on February 26, 1972. Since 1982, Mrs. Uhl has made her home with her children.
She was a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church and St Mary’s Guild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, six brothers and six sisters.
Survivors include two sons, William of Sioux City, Iowa and Norman of Crescent; four daughters, Mrs. Harold (Dorothy) Fester, Mrs. Leland (Loretta) Anderson, and Mrs. Louie (Delores) Waderich, all of Sioux City, Iowa, and Mrs. Merrill (Mary Ann) Howland of Crescent; two sisters, Mrs. Ann Munchrath of Rock Port, Alberta, Canada and Mrs. John (Dora) Heisler of Mapleton, Iowa; twenty-four grandchildren and forty-one great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Bob Fester, Dave Waderich, Steve Howland, Russell Howland, Gary Waderich, Kenneth Anderson, Larry Anderson, Terry Uhl, James Uhl, Ricky Howland, Larry Uhl, and DeWaine Anderson, all grandsons.
