SIOUX CITY - Cynthia Kay (Rohde) Watterson, 51, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, at her residence.

There will be a gathering of family and friends from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton, Iowa. The Rev. Karen Handke will offer words of comfort.

Cynthia Kay (Rohde) Watterson was born May 18, 1958, in Denison, Iowa, the daughter of Richard and Betty (Howard) Rohde. She graduated from Maple Valley High School in Mapleton with the class of 1977.

She married William Swearingen and lived in Smithland, Iowa. They had a son, Nicholas. On Dec. 2, 1988, she married Tony Watterson. They had a son, Jason, who was born exactly five years to the day after his big brother, Nick.

She loved music in general, but especially country music.

Survivors include her two sons, Nick Swearingen and his wife, Amanda and Jason Watterson and his fiancee, Kalyn, all of Sioux City; three grandsons, Zachery, Isaac and Noah; the first granddaughter, Paityn (on the way); a sister, Jeannie Boisen of Sioux City; and two brothers, Jeff and Craig Rohde, both of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
