ONAWA, Iowa -- Shirley Mae Golden, 60, of Onawa died Friday, April 26, 2002, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, with the Rev. Chuck Layton officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Golden was born Dec. 4, 1941, in Sioux City, the daughter of Harry and Velma (Worrell) Christianson. She attended schools in Salix, Iowa, and Ponca, Neb.

She married Maurice Golden on May 6, 1961, in Onawa, where the couple lived their entire married life. He died Aug. 25, 1995, in Onawa.

She was a senior aide at both Onawa Headstart and West Central Development. She and her husband were owner/operators of Gardenland Greenhouse and she maintained the business after his death.

She was a member of Onawa United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and being with her family.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Sandy and Mike Bryan of Onawa; a son, Mike Golden and his fiancee, Brenda Rasmussen of Sioux City; her fiance, Melvin "Andy" Anderson of Tekamah, Neb.; five grandchildren, Chasity and her husband, Bryan McDowell, Michael Jr. and his fiancee, Stephanie Nagel, Daniel and his fiancee, Nikki Theeler, David and his wife, Erin Bryan, and Marinda Marie Golden; three great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Jewel and Haley; two sisters and their husbands, Joann and Joe Stanwick of Sioux City, and Sharon and Ray Gosch of Charter Oak, Iowa; and many family members and friends.

She also was preceded in death by her parents.
