ONAWA, Iowa -- Giles Lee, 83, of Onawa died Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at a Whiting, Iowa, nursing home.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. today at Rodney United Church of Christ in Rodney, Iowa, with the Rev. Karen Handke officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Cemetery, Ute, Iowa, with military rites conducted by American Legion Abby Post 422 of Ute. Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. until service time today at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Willman Funeral Home in Rodney.

Mr. Lee was born July 6, 1918, in Soldier Township, Iowa, the son of Carl T. and Gladys C. (Eisanhut) Lee. He attended school in the Soldier and Ute, Iowa, area. He served in the U.S. Army.

He married Alma Ferdig on Sept. 30, 1960, in Columbus, Neb. He was a heavy equipment operator and farmer. He retired in 1992 and moved to Onawa.

He was a member of Rodney United Church of Christ, Monona County Extension Council and a 50-year member of American Legion Abby Post 422.

Survivors include his wife; two stepsons, Kenneth Prichard of Sioux City, and Ray Prichard and his wife, Marilyn, of Council Bluffs, Iowa; a stepdaughter and her husband, Beverly and Dennis Metcalf of Horseshoe Bay, Texas; 12 stepgrandchildren; 27 great-stepgrandchildren; two sisters, Minnie Johnson of Columbus, Neb., and Jennie Pautsch and her husband, Lloyd of Ute; a brother-in-law, Donald Ferdig of Longmont, Colo.; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Lee of Long Beach, Calif.; a stepdaughter-in-law, Kay Prichard of Smithland, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.

Pallbearers will be Bruce and Brian Pautsch, David and Kirk Johnson and Craig and Blake Jensen.
