ONAWA, Iowa -- Phyllis Cummins, 66, of Onawa died Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church in Onawa, with the Rev. Michael Cahill officiating. Burial will be in Harrison Cemetery, Whiting, Iowa. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Phyllis was born May 3, 1935, in Onawa, the daughter of Lloyd H. and Edna V. (Swanson) Fletcher. She was a lifelong Onawa resident and graduated from Onawa High School in 1953.

She married Robert E. Cummins on July 19, 1952, in Onawa. She was a nurses aide for many years at Elmwood Care Centre and Burgess Health Center in Onawa. Bob passed away Sept. 18, 1988, in Omaha.

She was a member of First Christian Church and American Legion Auxiliary, both in Onawa. She found great enjoyment playing cards, bowling, craftwork and piecework. She shared her talent in crocheting afghans as gifts to many friends and family members.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Michael and Karen of Onawa; two daughters and their husbands, Gloria and Vince Hieber of Moorhead, Iowa, and Nancy and Rick Bottjen of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Ragene and Kevin Cavanaugh, Karl and Brandon Cummins and Josh Ingram; a brother and his wife, Herbert and Bonnie Fletcher of Denver, Colo.; several nieces and nephews; and a best friend, Lillian Whitehorn.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Bradley.
