Mary Jane Yanak, 73, of rural Whiting, Iowa, died Saturday, January 30, 1993, at Marian Health Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

She was born August 12, 1919, near Sloan, the daughter of Lee and Jessie (Carnes) Worrell. She married Frank Yanak December 19, 1935, Sioux City. The couple were longtime farmers in the Sloan and Whiting area.

She was a member of Skein Lutheran Church and the Sloan Country Club.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter and her husband, Betty and Leonard Schmidt of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Frankie and Nancy of Sloan; two brothers, Lee "Bud" Worrell of Horseshoe Bend, Ark. and Archie "Fuzz" Worrell of Smithland; three grandchildren, Mark Schmidt and Jackie and Troy Yanak; and a great grandson, Ryan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Velma Christianson.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 3, 1993, at Skien Lutheran Church at Albaton, Iowa with Rev. Peter V Boe officiating. The organist, Mrs. Jon Roarson, accompanied the soloist, Rene Goodwin, in the selections "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" and "Amazing Grace".

Bearers were Gary Worrell, Russell Worrell, Richard Worrell, Archie Worrell, Mike Worrell, Tim Worrell'

Interment was in Fairview Cemetery at Albaton with arrangements by the Wood Funeral Home, Sloan, Iowa.
