Sidney L Marsh, son of George E and Jincy (Jones) Marsh, was born August 24, 1889 in Monona County, Iowa, and died December 18, 1973 at an Onawa hospital. He had reached the age of 84 years, 3 months and 24 days.

Mr. Marsh lived with his parents in Anderson, Missouri for several years but most of his life was spent in the Ticonic and Mapleton communities.

He married Lena Johnson Dec. 22, 1915 at Mapleton, Iowa, and after their marriage they moved to Graceville, Minnesota where they reside for ten years before returning to the Mapleton area. He spent most of his life farming and had also been employed at a flour mill at one time. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Mapleton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one daughter.

Survivors include his wife, Lena of Mapleton; four sons; Elwyn of Polk City, Iowa; Floyd of Mapleton, Duane of Dallas Center, Iowa and Kenneth of Adel, Iowa; five daughters; Mrs. Harold (Viola) Hauschildt of Earlham, Iowa, Mrs. Mervin (Verna) Whisner of Perry, Iowa, Mrs. Walter (Marcella) Jones of Creston, Iowa, Mrs.Clarence (Delores) Burkhart of Mapleton, and Mrs. Erwin (Glennis) Copeland of Benton, Harbor, Wisconsin, one sister, Mrs. Chloe DeVault of Battle Creek, Michigan; one brother, Milo Marsh of Worthington, Minnesota, 42 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, December 21, 1973 at 10:30 a.m. at the Walter Funeral Chapel in Mapleton, Iowa. Rev John Hall officiated and burial was in the Grant Cemetery near Ticonic, Iowa.

Pallbearers were Robert Marsh, Gregg Marsh, Royce Hauschildt, Lyle Whisner, Roger Jones, Duane Marsh Jr., Steve Marsh and David Marsh.
