Vinton L Woodward, a lifetime resident of the Ticonic, Iowa community, passed away on February 2, 1978 at the Veterans Hospital, Madison, Wiscosin. He had reached the age of 70 years, 6 months and 5 days.

Vinton was born July 27, 1907 at Ticonic, Iowa the son of Rolla and Amy Parks Woodward.

He served his country during World War II as a member of the Army and after his discharge he was employed for a few years by Boeing at Wichita, Kansas, before returning to Iowa and to farming near Ticonic.

He was a member of the Ticonic Methodist Church, Amicable Masonic Lodge #289 of Smithland, Iowa, the Leslie F. Seaton American Legion Post #665 of Smithland, Iowa and the Monona County Historical Society.

Survivors include his sister, Mrs. Glenn (Lavinia) Miller of Ticonic, Iowa and his brother, Mark Woodward of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Almira, and two brothers, Russell and Evans.

Services were Saturday, February 4, 1978 at 3:00 p.m. at the Ticonic Methodist Church at Ticonic, Iowa with Rev. Louis A. Altken officiating. The organist, Miss Marilyn Skow accompanied Mr. Myron Armour, soloist in the selections, "Precious Lord Take My Hand" and "Amazing Grace".

Bearers were Gordon Lane, Glen Skow, Loren Blakely, Marchmon Heisler, Rex Persinger and Darrell Larson. Interment took place in the Grant Cemetery, Ticonic, Iowa with flag presentation by the Leslie F Seaton Post #666 American of Smithland, Iowa with Kenneth Wellman, Commander.
