Mr. Ransford A. Butcher, age 88, of 1205 Fremont St. Marshalltown, Iowa, died Tuesday afternoon, February 10, 1998 at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center.

He was born July 28, 1909 in Onawa, Iowa the son of Charles Arthur and Ella Pagborn Butcher.

In November of 1936 he was united in marriage to Ida Ash and she preceded him in death in July of 1994.

Four children survive, Charley Butcher of Marshalltown; Robert Butcher of Kingston, OK., Paul Butcher of Marshalltown, and Barbara Woodruff of Phoenix, AZ. There are seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren surviving.

Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, one son, one grandchild, one sister, a half brother and a half sister.

Reared and educated in Onawa and Marshalltown, he moved to Marshalltown when he was 9 years old and has lived here since that time. He was employed at Fisher Controls for 32 years retiring in 1974.

Mr. Butcher was a member of the Faith Assembly of God Church an the U.A.W. retirees #893.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 13, 1998 at the Faith Assembly of God Church with Pastor Don Jonker officiating. Burial followed at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with arrangements by Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home.
