Harold O Anderson, 97, of Onawa, Iowa, died Friday, February 6, 1998, at the Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa..

Mr. Anderson was born on July 3, 1900, at Smithland, Iowa,the son of Frantz Emel and Mabel M. (Allen) Anderson. He was raised in the Kennebec, Iowa, area until coming to Onawa in 1935. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army. On May 29, 1949, he married Opal Amerine at Onawa. He was a carpenter in the area for over 40 yeas. Mrs. Anderson died on October 1, 1976 in Sioux City, Iowa.

He was a member of the First Christian Church and the David McNeill American Legion Post #129, both of Onawa.

Survivors include one brother, Allen A Anderson of Sioux City, Iowa, one sister, Beulah Roberts of Onawa; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and three brothers, Roy, Albert, and Charles P.

Funeral Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 10, 1998, at the First Christian Church, Onawa, Iowa, with Rev. Donald R Ludwick officating. The organist was Mrs. Vince Phillips and the soloist, Mrs. Fed Gibson sang the selection "How Great Thou Art" and "Beyond The Sunset".

Casket Bearers were Jim Beck, Bill Beck, Mike Beck, Charles Ferris, Norman Rolph, and Burdette Madsen.

Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa, with Flag Presentation by Veterans of Foreigh Wars Post #2694, Onawa, Iowa, Gordan Conway, Commander. Arrangements were by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
