Vera Pearl Tyson, 96, of Onawa, Iowa died Tuesday, October 12, 1999 at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Whiting, Iowa.

Mrs. Tyson was born June 22, 1903 at Kennebec, Iowa, the daughter of Andrew and Fanny (Fischer) Hittle. She spent all of her life in the Onawa area. She attended Country school through the eighth grade in rural Onawa. On September 21, 1923, she married John M Tyson at Elk Point, South Dakota. Mr. Tyson died January 16, 1992, at Whiting.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Onawa and was a past member of the Rebekah Lodge #222 in Onawa. She enjoyed crocheting, fishing and traveling.

Survivors include one son and his wife, James and Nancy Tyson of Onawa; two daughters, Margaret Ann Kreger of Onawa and Jeanne and her husband Dale Polly of Whiting; 15 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great- grandchildren and one sister-in-law, Ida Hittle of Salem, Oregon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; a daughter, Marian Buchberger; one son-in-law, Dale Kreger; one great-grandson, Joshua Buchberger and three brothers, Clarence, Claude and Alfred; and one sister, Ruby Nikolaisen.

Graveside Funeral Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 15, 1999 at the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa, with Pastor Donald R Ludwick officiating.

Casket Bearers were James Polly, Edward Polly, Larry Kreger, Chris Kreger, Terry Tyson and John Buchberger.

Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
