Mrs W H Vanscoy, 70, of Mankato, Minn, a former Soldier resident died Dec 21 in a Mankato hospital.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. December 24 in the Soldier Lutheran Church. The Rev William C Carter officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery with the Pearson Funeral Home in charge.

Mrs Vanscoy, the former Hazel Harris was born Sept 19, 1905, at Soldier. She was married to Wayne M Lamb in 1922. Mr Lamb died She was married to W H Vanscoy in 1933. Mr Vanscoy died. Mrs Vanscoy lived in Mankato since 1972.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs Glen (Audrey)Musty of Albany, Ore,Mrs Jean Bandell of Houston, Tex, Mrs Paul (Ardith) Jesse of Mankato, Minn, 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs Alma Harris of ONawa; and a brother, Elmer of Salem, Ore.

Hazel Harris Vanscoy, a former resident of the Soldier area, passed away at Mankato, Minnesota, Sunday morning, December 21 1975. She had reached the age of 70 years, 3 months and 2 days.
She was born near Soldier, Iowa on September 19, 1905, the daughter of Amund and Jennie Harris. She was united in marriage to Wayne M. Lamb, in Monona County in 1922. He preceded her in death. In 1933 she was united in marriage to W.H. Vanscoy in Monona County. He preceded her in death.

Since 1972 she has made her home in Mankato, Minnesota, and was previously a resident of Denver, Colo. and Onawa, Iowa, where she worked in various restaurants. Hazel was a member of the Hosannah Lutheran Church at Mankato, Minnesota.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Glen (Audrey) Musty of Albany, Ore., Mrs. Jean Bandel of Houston, Texas; Mrs. Paul (Ardith) Jesse of Mankato, Minn.: 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Alma Harris of Onawa, Iowa; one brother, Elmer Harris of Salem, Ore.; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Preceding her in death were five brothers, Ole, Isaac, Engval, Sol, and Guy, one sister, Tellie, and one daughter at birth, Doris.

Services were held on Wednesday, December 24, 1975, at 10:30 a.m. at the Lutheran Church, Soldier, Iowa, with Pastor William G. Carter officiating. The men’s quartet: Gordon Swenson, James Severson, Gordon Foss, and Gene Brenden, sang, “In The Garden. The organist Mrs. Harry Andersen, played the organ selection, “Rock of Ages”.

Bearers were Paul Jesse, John Jesse, Wayne Parks, Morris Satter, Benton Parks and Dwight Lamb. Interment was in the Lutheran Church Cemetery at Soldier, Iowa with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home of Soldier, Iowa.
