Soldier, Iowa--Olof "Ole" Bennett Bergerson, 84, of Des Moines, Wash., formely of Soldier, died June 5, 2009, in DesMoines, Wash.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Soldier Lutheran Church cemetery, Soldier, Iowa. Military honors will be provided by Soldier Valley American Legion Post 462 of Soldier and Grimsley-Thayer American Legion Post 502 of Castana, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa, Iowa.

Olof Bennett Bergerson, son of Brady and Magna Bergerson, passed away on June 5, 2009 in Des Moines, WA at the age of 84.

Ole was born in Soldier and served in the U.S. Army during WWII until being honorably discharged. On December 31, 1974, Olof was united in marriage to Helen (McGregor) Schilling in Auburn, WA.

They made their home in Washington and Ole worked for, the Tacoma News Tribune until retiring. They worked Bazaar's for years doing crafts.

Ole was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen M. Bergerson on August 9, 2008; three brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by one son, Arthur (Dana) Schilling of Des Moines, WA; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 10,2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Weeks' Funeral Home in Buckley, WA.

Graveside services were held on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Soldier Lutheran Church Cemetery ~ Soldier, IA with Pastor Steven C. Hetzel officiating. Military honors were presented by the Soldier Valley American Legion Post No. 462 ~ Soldier, IA and Grimsley-Thayer American Legion Post No. 502 - Castana, IA.
